I've been reading up on the upcoming film, Paranormal Activity. The movie has been making the festival circuits and it's been called the "scariest movie of the year", "the most terrifying movie of the year" and had an audience "physically shaking." The movie was shot in one-week for $11,000.00, has no soundtrack or special effects.
A young couple suspects that their house is haunted by a malevolent entity. They set up video surveillance to capture evidence of what happens at night as they sleep. Their surveillance and home videos have been edited into the 99-minute feature film.
Whatever. After being burned by the shaky-cam crapfest of The Blair Witch Project, I can't take stake in these claims. Of course, I could be wrong. If the director actually shows something scary on-screen, unlike The Blair Witch Project, it might work. So far, the trailer is a long way from selling me.
