SNOW WHITE TRASH

Let's face it, happily ever after is never going to happen for anyone, not even for a princess. Photographer Dina Goldstein started the project Fallen Princesses when her daughters developed an interest in Disney's Fairy Tales.

"As a young girl, growing up abroad, I was not exposed to Fairy tales. These new discoveries lead to my fascination with the origins of Fairy tales. I explored the original brothers Grimm's stories and found that they have very dark and sometimes gruesome aspects, many of which were changed by Disney. I began to imagine Disney's perfect Princesses juxtaposed with real issues that were affecting women around me, such as illness, addiction and self-image issues."

The project is nearly finished with two more photographs to be shot before the exhibit premieres October 15, 2009.

FAMOUS LAST MEALS

And while we're on the subject of food, here's a list of famous last meals. Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh had two pints of mint chocolate-chip ice cream while serial killer John Wayne Gacy ate a dozen deep-fried shrimps, a bucket of original recipe chicken from KFC, french fries, and a pound of strawberries on his final night.

I've always been a picky eater but some people will eat anything, including truly gross stuff out of a can. See for yourself the bizarre canned foods over over at Unusual Canned Foods from Around the World and stare in disbelief at the 45 accompanying photos. In the mood for some canned squid or giant bug chili paste? No? How about some canned armadillo meat or creamed possum with sweet potatoes garnished in coon fat gravy? You read that right, "coon fat gravy". I'm sure it's as delicious as it sounds. Now where did I put that can opener?

HOLDING OUT FOR SHE-HULK

Fan films are works of love and dedication. Garrett Gilchrist shot Shamelessly, the She-Hulk fan film with a budget of 6 thousand dollars and a very small crew, sometimes only relying upon himself for a day's work. The film was mostly shot on greenscreen and uses some CGI effects as well as rotoscope.

SHE-HULK FAN FILM

I love She-Hulk. Big, beautiful, smart and green, she's been one of my favorite characters since she was "savage". Garrett Gilchrist is also a bigfan, he's written, directed, photographed, animated and edited Shamelessly, a new She-Hulk fan film starring Kiestyn Elrod as titular heroine.

Strength, power, intelligence, and a sense of humor to boot. This is the shameless story of a young woman who becomes one of earth's most powerful heroes. Not your average, everyday, neighborhood hero - not your average superhero film.

WHITEOUT MOVIE TRAILER

The trailer for the upcoming movie, Whiteout, has finally been released. Whiteout is the film adaptation of Greg Rucka's Eisner Award winning comic book of the same name. The movie stars Kate Beckinsale as US Marshall Carrie Stetko investigating the first murder in Antartica. The trailer has been already been pulled from a few sites so watch it while you can.

MARVEL CLASSIC COVER PRINTS

Marvel Comics has been celebrating their 70th anniversary with a countdown of their best comic book covers, The Greatest Marvel Covers of All Time! The number four spot has been revealed with just three issues left. Check out the list for yourself and even order prints of your favorite covers! The only problem is, the prints are no bigger than the original comic book size.

"All images will print as shown. If an image is shown with trade dress (book title, bar code, writer/artist names) it will print with it. If not, it won’t. A standard comic book is 6.875” x 10.4375”, so the closest print we have available is 6.588” x 10”."

Still, it's a great way to get your favorite comic book cover on your wall.

FROM THE COLLECTION: MISS GEORGETTE, CONTORTIONIST

I purchased this real photo postcard of Miss Georgette- Contorsioniste from an online dealer in Norway. A quick online search revealed nothing about this performer so I don't have anything to share other than the postcard itself. But if you're like me, you enjoy any photo of a contortionist.

BRAIN IS SQUIRMING LIKE A TOAD

"Weird Al Yankovic" has done songs in the style of Devo, Bob Dylan, The Talking Heads and even Tonio K. Today he released the song "Craigslist", along with a video, in the style of The Doors with original Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek playing on the track. You can download the song on iTunes, Amazon and other fine MP3 retailers.

JUST LISTEN: DAMIEN RICE WEEK (PT. 3)

Damien Rice Week continues with the the song "Rootless Tree". Believe it or not, "Rootless Tree" was the second single released from his album, 9, which offers his most explicit lyics to date. The chorus reads:

"Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, and all we've been through / I said leave it, leave it, leave it, It's nothing to you / And if you hate me, hate me, hate me / Then hate me so good that you can let me out, let me out, let me out / Of this hell when you're around."

A radio edited version was released but obviously it lacks the power of the uncensored version.
