JUST LISTEN: ELVIS PRESLEY WEEK (PT. 3)

After Elvis returned from active duty with the US Army, he appeared on The Frank Sinatra-Timex Special, aka "Welcome Home Elvis", on March 26, 1960. Colonel Parker secured a paycheck of $125,000.00 for Presley's 6 minute appearance on the show. Parker hoped the pairing with Frank Sinatra would make him more appealing to older audiences as well as reminding the teenagers Elvis was back from the Army. Colonel Parker stacked the deck in Elvis's favor by packing the studio audience with 400 members from an Elvis fan club. The ABC special drew a 41.5 share for the night and confirmed that America was glad to have The King back.
