Billy Bob Thornton's Band, The Boxmasters, has canceled the rest of their Canadian tour. They were booed while performing on stage due to Billy Bob's rude behavior during an interview. Supposedly the tour was canceled due to one of the band members having the flu but we all know the real reason the tour was canceled.

Billy Bob Thornton's band has canceled the rest of its Canadian tour after the actor compared the country's fans to mashed potatoes with no gravy in a testy interview that caused a sensation online.

The Boxmasters opened for Willie Nelson on Thursday in Toronto, where they reportedly were booed and met with catcalls of "Here comes the gravy."

A note posted on Nelson's Web site Friday said the Boxmasters were canceling the rest of their Canadian dates "due to one band member and several of the crew having the flu."

The cancellation came two days after Thornton made world headlines with a belligerent appearance on CBC radio's "Q."

The actor apparently didn't like that host Jian Ghomeshi started the interview with references to Thornton's Hollywood career.

Thornton refused to answer many of Ghomeshi's questions directly, mumbling: "I don't know what you're talking about." He later said Ghomeshi's producers had been told ahead of time not to talk about his film career.

Thornton also had some unkind words for Canadian crowds.

"Canadian audiences seem to be very reserved," he told Ghomeshi. "We tend to play places where people throw things at each other. Here, they just sort of sit there. And it doesn't matter what you say to 'em. ... It's mashed potatoes but no gravy."

Before his Thursday night gig, Thornton tried to clarify those remarks, saying he loved Canada and his "mashed potatoes" comment had been aimed at Ghomeshi.

Again, I don't like tabloid stories like this but I was really disappointed when I saw how he acted during the radio interview. I know it's just another case of a spoiled actor behaving badly but I've been a fan for years, going to movies specifically because he was in them. For Billy Bob to try to run away from the problem seems silly and childish. He should face the problem head-on and apologize for being so rude. But what do I know? I'm just fan who's supported him for years. Just mashed potatoes with no gravy.

BILLY BOB BOOED

Seems like I wasn't the only one who thinks Billy Bob Thornton is a jerk. During his Canadian tour, his band, The Boxmasters, were booed while performing on Thursday night.

"It seems as if when I say something it's in the news," he told the crowd, referring to his bizarre interview, during which he cursed at the host and referred to Canadian audiences as "mashed potatoes with no gravy."

The audience immediately began booing, according to the Toronto Sun.

"Boo all you want," Thornton told the crowd, "but I want to say something we're really happy to be here, but I need to say something. I talked to this a--hole yesterday."

Thornton told the crowd he was irked that the host introduced him as an "Oscar-winning screenwriter, actor and director." He said producers assured him that his acting career would not be mentioned during the interview.

"I don't really like sensationalism," he told audience at Massey Hall. "If you look someone in the eyes and promise them something, and you don't do it, you don't get the interview. That's the way it goes."

Thornton assured the Sun that he "loves Canada." Asked what he meant by the "mashed potatoes" comment he said: "I was talking about the guy who was interviewing me."

A rep for Thornton defends the way the actor acted during the interview.

"This is a non-story," his rep tells Usmagazine.com. "If you watched the video you will see that he simply elected not to engage with the interviewer because of the direction of the interview from the outset."

Wow, it's easy to see why Billy Bob was so upset, being referred to as an "Oscar-winning screenwriter, actor and director." I wonder how he'll react with people now referring to him as a douche bag.

BILLY BOB WANTS TO BE JOAQUIN

Actor/screenwriter Billy Bob Thornton must have been inspired by Joaquin Phoenix, wanting to be considered more than just an actor; he now wants to be seen as a serious musician but instead has become a complete douche bag. A disc jockey attempts to interview Billy Bob about his band, The Boxmasters, and began the interview with an introduction about Billy Bob's Hollywood history. Apparently this really ticked him off. He trashes the interview, refusing to answer questions and instead rambles on about Famous Monsters of Filmland, baseball, and other nonsense. He also compares himself to Tom Petty. A lot.

Normally I don't post celebrity stories or tabloid articles because I couldn't care less about that stuff but I've been a Billy Bob Thornton fan for years and loved his work in movies. I shrugged off his eccentric behavior in the past, such as wearing a vial of Angelina Jolie's blood around his neck and his antique phobia, but this just pisses me off to see another spoiled actor believing his own hype. Act and shut the f*ck up. I've heard your music and you sir, are no Tom Petty. You're not even Tom Jones.

So much for the good ol' boy from Arkansas. Maybe he can do the soundtrack for the next Christian Bale movie. They'd make a great pair.
