BATMAN AND SUPERMAN ORIGINS AGAIN?

"I'm Batman. My parents died when I was a kid and now I fight crime, growl and brag about my detective skills. What do you mean you've already heard this story a million times? Wait! Where 'ya going? But I've got a new costume that looks exactly same as my other ones!"

Once again proving they can't tell a story, DC Comics is going to reboot Superman and Batman again. Really? Another round of origin stories? Wow, how completely dull and unoriginal. Here's the scoop from The Source:

That major publishing event we mentioned earlier today? Well, here it is.

Original stories featuring Batman and Superman in graphic novel form from the biggest creators out there. But these aren’t one-offs. We’re talking ongoing series of OGNs in a new continuity, on a new Earth.

Sound appealing?

Starting next year, DC Comics will unveil SUPERMAN: EARTH ONE and BATMAN: EARTH ONE, two graphic novels spotlighting the most powerful heroes of the DC Universe, with their first years and earliest moments retold in a standalone, original graphic novel format, on a new earth with an all-new continuity.

Return to Smallville and experience the journey of Earth’s greatest adopted son, as he grows from boy to Superman in SUPERMAN: EARTH ONE by J. Michael Straczynski and artist Shane Davis.

Watch from the darkest corners of Crime Alley as a young boy is struck by unbelievable tragedy that will forge the greatest crime-fighter to ever stalk the rooftops of Gotham City in BATMAN: EARTH ONE, by writer Geoff Johns and artist Gary Frank.

Zzzzzzzzzz... Oh, sorry, must have dozed off there.

My favorite part is how they call it a "major publishing event." Hilarious. And these multiple earths stories are the exact reason I don't read DC Comics and the definition of the word "sucks."

Sure, Marvel makes many mistakes but they continue to have some of the best stories in comics today and Civil War, love it or hate it, was the best idea to hit superhero comic books in many years.

Seriously, how can you not say, "Make mine Marvel!"

I agree, even as a kid the multiple earth stuff got really old, it was even worse when they came up with Earth-prime which was our earth and actually had the writers and artists of DC in it. Ridiculous! That being said, I have liked some of what DC has offered over the years, but I totally agree that Marvel does a better job of telling stories (at least until Mickey takes the helm).

This is such a stupid idea.

Thanks for the comments, guys. It's nice to know I'm not alone in this. DC really needs to step in the storytelling department.

Today I saw Spider-man Secret Wars, this comes on the heels of a revamp of the clone saga...Marvels hands are not spotless. How about the Squadron Supreme being a rip-off of the JLA or the Imperial gaurd being a rip-off of the LSH, let's be fair you slimy Marvel zombies!!!

Blah, blah, blah, Jeff. Say whatever you want but DC Comics cannot write a good story. I admit Marvel makes lots of mistakes but they can spin a good yarn. And I'm sure you'll never admit that these new origin stories are dull and unimaginative but you have to fess up that Grant Morrison is a hack. And oh! Guess what? He's writing a new mini-series with a really creative title: Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne. Now THAT'S creative! But it gets better, Jeff. Your favorite caped crusader is going to be... (wait for it)... A PIRATE! HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!HA! Seriously, he's going to be Batpirate! Check out the DC blog "The Source" if you don't believe me. (Oh, and what a really unique name for their blog, don't you think?) Now, I know this is going to stick in your craw but go ahead and say it with me, "Make mine Marvel!" Now, don't you feel better?
