Emily Mortimer was born in London, England and began performing in plays during her school days where she was spotted by a producer who later cast her in a television production of The Glass Virgin. Her first film role was in the 1996 film, The Ghost and the Darkness. Deciding to change her prim and proper image, she took on a provocative role in Lovely and Amazing appearing completely nude. Mortimer later starred in Disney's The Kid, Dear Frankie, Lars and the Real Girl and 2006 The Pink Panther remake and the 2009 sequel.
She will next be seen in Martin Scorsese's 2009 film, Shutter Island.
