Born in Canada, identical twins Tegan and Sara began their music career in high school as PLUNK but didn't have a drummer or bass player. Using their school's recording studio, they recorded two demo albums, Who's in Your Band? and Play Day. They recorded three more demo albums in the same studio and in their bedrooms, Orange Demo, Yellow Demo and Red Demo. In 1998 they entered the Garage Warz Battle of the Bands and won. They began an extensive tour and released their first album, Under Feet Like Ours. While each sings and plays instruments, the lead singing goes to whichever twin wrote the song.
2007 saw the release of the fifth album, The Con, and produced the single "Back in Your Head". Tegan and Sara are currently working on a new album to be released later this year.
