Born to artist parents, Ingrid Michaelson began piano lessons at age 4. She met a vocal coach at the Jewish Community Center of Staten Island who helped her through high school. She received a degree in theater from Binghamton University and became a director until she decided to focus on a music career. She self-released her debut album, Slow the Rain, in 2005.
Her fourth album, Everybody, was released last week and features the single "Maybe".
