P.T. BARNUM, THE MUSICAL

Variety reports Hugh Jackman is set to star as P.T. Barnum in the upcoming musical, The Greatest Showman on Earth.

Jackman will play the showman with a penchant for hoaxing a gullible public as he creates the three-ring circus that made him famous. The musical also focuses on his infatuation with singer Jenny Lind -- the so-called Swedish Nightingale.

Pic will have a contemporary musical score, and the studio is in talks with British singer-songwriter Mika to write music and lyrics.

The musical follows the old Hollywood tradition in which tuners were scripted with specific actors in mind. The Lind role is being scripted for Anne Hathaway, who teamed with Jackman in his opening Oscars number.

Looks like the musical will be based on the legend of Barnum instead of his actual life, unlike the upcoming Columbia Pictures film which is supposed to be more historical accurate. And is it just me, or does anyone else not want to see Wolverine sing and dance?

I know! It's disturbing to see Wolverine singing and dancing. Save that crap for the Spider-Man movies.

He's a trained broadway actor! He sang and danced for YEARS before donning the claws.

Maybe so but now he's Wolverine to me and all the other fanboys. I'm not saying I don't want to see him in other roles but it's just weird seeing him sing and dance.
