Marvel Comics is going after women in a big way. Starting 2009, Marvel will offer women's apparel, cosmetics, jewelry and more.
“Since our core customer has always been guys, we need to be very careful when we introduce female product so that we don’t alienate our core,” said Paul Gitter, president of consumer products, North America, for Marvel Entertainment Inc. “What we have found through testing is that we haven’t alienated them, which gives us the OK to move forward with female product.”Marvel needs to keep going after female readers. Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series was a step in the right direction. And with this economy, the comic book industry need to pursue readers of every sex and age.
Personally, I'm hoping they'll release a She-Hulk perfume. I love a woman that smells "savage" and "sensational".
