JUST LISTEN: ROY ORBISON WEEK (PT. 6)

The song "Running Scared", written by Roy Orbison and Joe Melsong, is an operatic rock ballad released as a single by Monument Records in 1961. The song became a number one hit on the Billboard Charts. The song is noted for having no chorus and building to a climax, which demonstrates Orbison's powerful voice.

The B-side of the single featured "Love Hurts". Orbison wasn't the first to cover the song. The Everly Brothers first recorded "Love Hurts" in 1960 but it wasn't until 1975 when the rock band Nazareth made the song an international hit. However, it was Roy Orbison that first made the song a hit with it reaching the number five spot in Australia in 1961.
